Triathlon Accessories

The most common gear that you require for your triathlon event includes large items such as bikes, gear bags and wetsuits. On top of this there are a number of other items that you may wish to purchase.

Clothing

Triathlon shorts and shirts are good to have and can in fact be used for many other sporting events and general exercise too. You can purchase suitable items for anywhere from $20 up to $100 or more.

The main thing you want to look for is triathlon wear that is made for high performance. It must stand up to being worn for swimming, biking and cycling perhaps for hours and hours at a time.

You want the fabric to be quick drying and suitable for wearing in water. A fabric such as NEO Skin fabric is good as it is great for swimming and dries very quickly allowing you to start cycling without any issues.

Also look for clothing that encompasses flat seams as these are more comfortable to wear. Because you will be wearing the same clothes for a long time you need material that won’t rub or chaff you.

Choose material that has breathability and wicks away the moisture from your body. Clothing with high lycra content helps support your body and provides additional comfort.

Additional Accessories

There really are a lot of additional accessories that you may wish to purchase for your triathlon event. These can include a sun visor or sunglasses. Glasses are great for keeping bugs out of your eyes as well as for protection from the sun.

If you want to track your performance then heart rate monitors, mini bike computers and triathlon watches are all options.

Compression Sleeves

Many competitors like to use compression sleeves during their events. They are good to wear for training purposes as well as for recovery. They come in a variety of colors and sizes and help to regulate your skin temperature and fight bacteria. Many types come with silver ions in them.

When purchasing a compression sleeve you can buy according to your height or by your shin size. They are good to use for anyone who has trouble with calf pain or for anyone who is on their feet all day.

Swimsuits

Of course you will need a good fitting swimsuit. There are some on the market that have been especially designed for those entering an ironman or triathlon event. You want to purchase a swimsuit that is comfortable and one that doesn’t restrict your movements at all.  If you don’t want to wear a swimsuit for your cycling event you may wish to opt for a tri-suit instead.

As well as accessories for your event there are plenty of training DVD’s, books and even magnets that you might like. You could give magnets to friends and family as gifts and maybe even get them interested in what you are doing.
