What’s So Great About the Proform 505 CST Treadmill?
iFit Live: Like other models of Proform treadmills, the Proform 505 comes with iFit Live technology. This program enables users to get more out of their workout by using programs that are designed by trainer Jillian Michaels and Google Maps. You also get an online profile where you can tour the world and run with others in an interactive environment. This technology does require an iFit Live adapter that is sold separately, so it’s your choice if you want to use it or not. Yet it does make the experience of running indoors all the more enjoyable.
iPod Compatible: You’d be surprised at how many modern-day treadmills lack an iPod port, but the Profrom 505 does not skip over this necessity. Not only is the treadmill compatible with iPods and MP3 players, but also it has speakers that are a step over the substandard ones that come with treadmills. The built-in intermix acoustics 2.0 sound system offers a broad range of frequencies and sounds so that you can hear your favorite tunes loud and clear.
Display Options: The display is six-inches, with clear, easy-to-read buttons. It has a backlight and large viewing angle, making it easy to keep track of your progress no matter what time of the day it is or what angle you’re looking on from. Using the display, you have a world of workout opportunities at your fingertips, including 15 workout apps that are certified by a personal trainer. Also choose time, distance or calories burned so that you can focus on your workout goals. Quick Control buttons also allow you to change the speed and incline with the touch of a button.
What’s Not So Great About the Proform 505 CST Treadmill?
iFit Module Not Included: The iFit Live program is great and one of the top reasons why people choose the Proform 505 CST Treadmill. Unfortunately, the iFit module does not come included with the treadmill and costs another $130. Not only does the module cost money, but so does the service. For the first year, the service is free, but it costs $80 for each year after that, providing that the price remains the same. Many people agree that the program is well worth it, as it adds a whole new element to working out, but others are disappointed to see that a treadmill that displays this capability doesn’t have it included with the purchase.
Cup Holders: It may seem to be a trivial feature, but having cup holders that actually fit water bottles is an important feature for runners. The cup holders on the Proform 505 are awkwardly shaped and not a favorite of users. They have an odd shape, similar to a cube instead of the round circular shapes that most cup holders have. This makes placing a water bottle in there unbalanced, especially as the machine starts to vibrate and it looks like the water bottle is going to vibrate right out of the holder. The holder is also not ideal for remotes or anything else of significance because of the shallow design.
Is the Proform 505 CST Treadmill a Great Purchase?
Whether you’re a beginner or an avid runner, you’ll get plenty of use out of this treadmill that has a space-saving, folding design, backlit display screen and both iPod and WiFi capabilities. This treadmill is affordable without compromising any features along the way. It also has a generous running surface and quiet operation so that you can keep most comfortable when working out. The 2.25 CHP Mach Z Motor is one that will keep the unit running smoothly, powerfully and quietly so that you can get your workouts done without disturbing anyone. If you want an affordable treadmill with forward-thinking features, the Proform 505 is a smart choice.
