What’s So Great About the Oliso TG1600 1800-Watts Smart Iron Pro

iTouch Technology

Oliso brings forward iTouch technology, a revolutionary advancement

Oliso brings forward iTouch technology, a revolutionary advancement to the world of ironing. Thanks to this technology, there are digital sensor pads that allow the iron to lift when you take your hands off the handle. When these pads or “feet” recede back in, there’s less risk of accidental burns, scorches and other safety hazards. This technology also makes the process of ironing more comfortable and less fatiguing for the user. iTouch technology is exclusive to Oliso, so you won’t find this type of technology with any other brand. For these reasons, the Oliso has received numerous awards such as Time’s Magazine “Best Inventions of 2006” and the Home Safety Council Award.

User-Friendly Features

Don’t think that the Oliso TG1600 stops with iTouch technology. This iron is jam-packed with features that you’ll find useful. The extended cord measures out at 12-feet and has a 360 degree pivot for ironing at any angle. The automatic shut-off is an essential safety feature and has a number of shut-off points so that you’re not left feeling frustrated with the iron turning off every few minutes. The Oliso TG1600 has a narrow nose for reaching awkward spots and a smart side-load water tank with a built-in funnel. Other thoughtful details include hand selector controls, vertical and horizontal steaming positions, anti-drip system and two-inch detailers.

Automatic Shut-off

The automatic shut-off that is included with the Oliso TG1600 is worth talking about. The award-winning design has gained attention and has made the Oliso the iron that it is today. The automatic shut-off is timed for various events so that you can find the perfect balance between efficiency and safety. If the iron is knocked over, it will turn off after 30 seconds to prevent burns and scorches. If

If iTouch mode is overridden and the iron is left in a horizontal position, it will turn off after three minutes. This particular model has the added benefit of turning off after 30 minutes if the iron is left on its heel or not lifted, which is enough time to keep the iron hot in between tasks.

Fun to Use

You may be surprised to see that an iron can actually be fun, but the Oliso TG1600 brings a whole new meaning to the task of ironing. The iTouch technology that is responsible for the feet receding in and out makes ironing relaxing and enjoyable without having to do much effort. Plus, it lowers the risk of accidental burns so that you can rest easy while on the job. The Oliso sports a fun, colorful design and has a long cord for easy ironing at any angle. All of these features make the mundane task of ironing surprisingly enjoyable.

What’s Not So Great About the Oliso TG1600 1800-Watts Smart Iron Pro

Non-Steel Soleplate

It’s a bit disappointing to see that the Oliso lacks a stainless steel soleplate that so many irons on the market have today. Instead, it carries the Pro-Press soleplate that features a beadblast chromium finish. This does offer the same highlights as stainless steel in that it’s super smooth and resistant to scratches and fingerprints. However, it does not perform as well as stainless steel, with the biggest drawback being that it doesn’t glide effortlessly over fabrics.

Leaks

Despite the anti-drip system, many reviewers have reported issues with the Oliso TG1600 leaking water. For some people, they noticed the leaking immediately as the iron left behind small puddles of water. For others, it wasn’t until wet spots were seen on the clothes that it became apparent the iron was leaking. Furthermore, if you choose not to use the iTouch technology, which can be difficult to get used to for some, the iron seems to leak more when placed in an upright position.

Doesn’t Get Hot Enough

Another common complaint with the Oliso TG1600 is that it doesn’t get hot enough. Reviewers report that they’ll turn up the heat to the highest setting, but the iron fails to deliver. If you use a lot of steam, you’ll have a better chance at working out stubborn wrinkles and creases, but if you prefer to iron with heat instead of steam, you may find yourself disappointed with the overall temperature output on the Oliso.

Is this  a Good Purchase

The Oliso TG1600 is a great purchase for the modern-day ironer who appreciates a dose of comfort and style while ironing. This iron is definitely for the casual ironer since it doesn’t seem to generate enough heat, steam or power to keep up with the professional demands of quilters and tailors. Nevertheless, this iron is packed with inventive features for the price, including the award-winning automatic shut-off, innovative iTouch technology to reduce user fatigue and a convenient side fill tank and 12-foot cord. When combined together, these features make the Oliso TG1600 one great iron to work with.
